As many are aware The Hon. Treasurer Mr Joe Hockey delivered the 2014-2015 Federal nufc Budget on the 13th May 2014. Despite many of the high profile adjustments such as the Medicare co-payment and changes nufc to welfare structure nufc take precedence many other changes were made to government programs including the Cooperative Research Centre Program
The Department of Industry has released a statement saying that; As part of the 2014-15 Federal Budget, the Government has decided to reduce funding for the Cooperative Research Centres (CRC) Program by $80 million over the forward nufc estimates. As a result of this decision, nufc the 17th selection round will not proceed. Applications from eligible existing CRCs seeking an extension of funding will be considered separately on merit with applications due on 3 July 2014. Existing CRCs seeking to apply for additional funding through the priority public good funding mechanism will also be considered under this process. This decision does not impact on existing CRC contracts nufc or Round 16 contracts being negotiated.
At this time Energy Pipelines CRC will not be affected by changes to the CRC program funding and it is important to emphasise this. The valuable research being carried out by the Energy Pipelines CRC will continue into the foreseeable future.
The Cooperative Research Centre Association CEO Tony Peacock reiterated that no existing CRCs are affected, including those in contract negotiations following the last round but said that it is important to redouble our efforts again to demonstrate nufc the value of the Program.
It is anticipated nufc that more details surrounding the Cooperative Research Centre program nufc will come to light over time. To keep up to date on this matter, the Cooperative Research Centre Association Website is a good resource.

BOSTON, MA (May 12, 2014) The Gordon-Conwell Center for Urban Ministerial Education awarded its annual Making a Difference Award for Christian Service to five lay members of Covenant Congregational Church of Boston for their work in establishing and running a new drop-in center for the homeless.
About 30 people stoixima visit the center every Saturday morning, where they can engage in conversation, stoixima play board games, listen to music, and interact with volunteers. Some of the men have begun doing odd jobs around the church for pay, several have joined a small group, and three recently became members.
Integrating people struggling with homelessness and otherwise on the margins is an important goal of the ministry, says Teri Elliott-Hart, the Center for Urban Ministerial Education director for leadership and mentored ministry stoixima initiatives.
A program for the presentation noted that in addition to helping the homeless, The significance of the Rest Stop ministry is that it revitalizes the members of Covenant Congregational Church by fostering spiritual growth through loving their homeless neighbors.
NORTHBROOK, IL (May 12, 2014) Residents of Covenant Village stoixima of Northbrook , recently donated more than $10,000 to Northbrook area public service organizations that include the local police and fire department, stoixima public library, and a food pantry.
“We receive so much from the Northbrook community,” states Peg Sickeler, Covenant Village of Northbrook’s Holly Fair chair. “By stoixima hosting this annual fundraiser stoixima and contributing to these area organizations, it is our way of giving back, and saying ‘thank you’ for their dedication and wonderful services they provide.”

Today [May 9] in the House of Assembly, Minister of National Security Michael Dunkley tabled the report from the Cannabis Reform Collaborative [CRC] , which recommended decriminalizing personal possession of cannabis and enabling wwe 13 access to medical cannabis.
The report’s Executive Summary said, “There is strong evidence and a growing conviction globally that the international ‘war on drugs’ has been an epic failure in terms of its stated objectives to stamp out drug use and eliminate supply: since the ‘war of drugs’ wwe 13 was implemented, use/demand along with supply has dramatically increased.”
The report goes on to recommends wwe 13 that Government should “decriminalize personal possession and personal cultivation immediately,” and “develop a phased approach to cannabis reform and policies that limit potential of Bermudians being denied access to the United States.”
As far as medical marijuana, the CRC recommends taking “immediate action to enable access to medical cannabis with a prescription to individuals by way of a regulation under the existing wwe 13 legislation until such time as revised legislation is drafted.”
“Mr. Speaker, Honourable Members will recall the November 2013 Speech from the Throne promise to engage in public consultation regarding cannabis/marijuana policy reform. Shortly after, Mr. Stratton Hatfield and Mr. Khomeini Talib-Din approached me individually to express their interest in facilitating and participating in the promised public consultation. wwe 13
“I put the two men together and advised them to recruit additional members, with like interest, wwe 13 to form the Cannabis Reform Collaborative [CRC]. The group began meeting on December 5 and had as its mandate to produce an advisory document on cannabis policy reform that identifies the benefits wwe 13 and consequences of reclassifying, legalizing, or decriminalizing cannabis and to investigate its medicinal uses.
“Mr. wwe 13 Speaker, wwe 13 in addition to the Chair Mr. Hatfield and Mr. Talib-Din, the CRC comprised Lamar Caines, Jules Van Belen, Cordell Reily, Dr. Ernest Peets, Robyn Swan, Kyle Bridgewater, Alex Jones, Harry Masters, and Joleesa Simons. Together, the CRC has experience and varying levels of expertise in activism, policy, law, addictions treatment and drug education. The CRC worked diligently to engage the public in discussions about Bermuda s current cannabis policies and to canvass the public s views on reform through town hall style meetings, focus groups and electronic surveys.
“Mr. Speaker, at the outset of the CRC s work and again when the document was delivered to me on April 17, I indicated that I would table the report in the House for the information of Honourable Members. As such, I am pleased to table the Final Advisory Document and a Motion inviting this House to take note of its contents.
“Mr. Speaker, the team at the Ministry of National Security is currently reviewing the contents of the report and the resulting recommendations. It must be noted however that cannabis policy in Bermuda is far reaching, affecting our social, health and economic climate and therefore requires a holistic approach to reform. Where it is found that reform is in fact warranted, changes will only be made in a measured fashion with careful consideration of the Bermudian context.

The School of Social Work scholar is testing a smartphone app that would help Spanish-speaking Latinos with mental illness or substance abuse problems to stick with their medication. Latinos are the largest minority group and have high rates of mental health problems, poverty, and homelessness, says Muroff, and they have few culturally and linguistically competent mental fromsport health services.
